Syekh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani q.s. adalah seorang ulama dan syekh sufi yang berasal dari Lebanon. Beliau lulusan American University di Beirut dalam bidang kimia. Dari sana beliau melanjutkan studi kedokteran di University of Louvain, Belgia. Beliau juga meraih gelar di bidang Hukum Islam dari Universitas al-Azhar, Damaskus. Sejak usia 15 tahun, beliau telah menemani Syekh `Abdullah ad-Daghestani q.s. dan Syekh Muhammad Nazim al-Haqqani q.s., syekh agung Tarekat Naqsybandi yang mulia di masa ini. Beliau banyak melakukan perjalanan ke segala penjuru di Timur Tengah, Eropa, dan Timur Jauh untuk menemani syekhnya.

Pada tahun 1991 beliau diperintahkan syekhnya untuk pindah ke Amerika dan mendirikan yayasan bagi Tarekat Naqsybandi di sana. Sejak saat itu, beliau telah membuka 13 pusat sufi di Kanada dan Amerika Serikat. Beliau telah mengajar di sejumlah universitas, seperti: the University of Chicago, Columbia University, Howard, Berkeley, McGill, Concordia, dan Dawson College, demikian pula dengan sejumlah pusat keagamaan dan spiritual di seluruh Amerika Utara, Eropa, Timur Jauh dan Timur Tengah.

Misi dari Syekh Hisham Kabbani q.s. di benua Amerika adalah untuk menyebarkan ajaran sufi dalam konteks persaudaraan umat manusia dan kesatuan dalam kepercayaan kepada Tuhan yang terdapat dalam semua agama dan jalur spiritual. Usahanya diarahkan untuk membawa spektrum keagamaan dan jalur-jalur spiritual yang beragam ke dalam keharmonisan dan kerukunan, dalam rangka pengenalan akan kewajiban ummat manusia sebagai kalifah Tuhan di bumi ini.

Hamba yang lemah ini, Gibril ibn Fouad diminta untuk menulis biografi dan artikel tentang kekasih kita Mawlana Syaikh Nazim q.s. dalam beberapa kata-kata anda sendiri tentang kehidupan dan ajaran-ajaran Beliau dan pengalaman anda bersama Beliau. Bulan ini adalah bulan Rabi'ul Awwal 1425H (Mei 2004) adalah saat paling tepat untuk melakukan hal ini. Semoga Allah swt. mengilhami baik penulis maupun pembaca tentang Mawlana Syaikh Nazim q.s. agar memiliki gambaran yang adil dan tepat terhadap subjek yang mulia ini. Tak ada daya maupun kekuatan melainkan dengan-Nya. Sebagaimana Dia melingkupi kebodohan kita dengan Ilmu-Nya, semoga pula Dia melingkupinya dengan Rahmat-Nya, Amin! About Shaykh Hisham Muhammad Kabbani

Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani is a scholar and Sufi shaykh from the Middle East. He graduated from the American University of Beirut in Chemistry. From there he went to Belgium, to continue his Medical Degree in Louvain. Then he received his Islamic Law Degree from Damascus. From his childhood, he accompanied Shaykh 'Abdullah ad-Daghestani and Shaykh Muhammad Nazim al-Haqqani, the grandshaikhs of the Most Distinguished Naqshbandi Order in this time. He traveled extensively throughout the Middle East, Europe, and the Far East in the company of his shaykh.

In 1991 he moved to America and there established the foundation of the Naqshbandi-Haqqani Sufi Order of America.

Since that time, he has opened thirteen Sufi centers in Canada and the United States. He has lectured in many universities, including Oxford, the University of California at Berkeley, the University of Chicago, Columbia University, Howard, McGill, Concordia, Dawson College, as well as in many spiritual and religious centers throughout North America, Europe, the Far East and the Middle East.

Shaykh Hisham Kabbani's work wherever he goes is to spread the Sufi teachings of the brotherhood of mankind and the Unity of belief in God that is present in all religions and spiritual paths. His efforts are directed at bringing the diverse spectrum of religions and spiritual paths into harmony and concord, in recognition of mankind's responsibility as caretaker of this fragile planet and of one another.

He is the Imam of the People of Sincerity, the Secret of Sainthood, who revived the Naqshbandi Order at the end of the 20th Century, with Heavenly guidance and Prophetic ethics. He infused into the Nation and the Planet, love of God and love of the lovers of God, after they had been darkened with the fire and smoke of tribulation and terror, anger and grief.

He is the Unveiler of Secrets, the Keeper of Light, the Shaykh of Shaykhs, the Sultan of Ascetics, the Sultan of the Pious, the Sultan of the People of the Truth. He is the Chief Master without peer of the Divine Knowledge in the late 20th Century. He is the Rain from the Ocean of Knowledge of this Order, which is reviving spirits in all parts of this world. He is the Saint of the Seven Continents, his light having attracted disciples and students from all quarters of the globe. He wears the Cloak of the Light of the Divine Presence. He is unique in his time. He is the orchid planted in the earth of Divine Love. He is the Sun for all the universes. He is known as the Saint of the Two Wings: the external knowledge and the internal knowledge.

He is a Miracle of Allah's Miracles, walking on the earth and soaring in the Heavens. He is a Secret of Allah's Secrets, appearing in His Divinity and Existing in His Existence. He is the Owner of the Throne of Guidance, the Reviver of Divine Law, the Master of Sufi Way, the Builder of the Truth, the Guide of the circle, the Lyric Poem of All the Secrets.
